European Short-Course: Michael Jamieson wins silver

Michael Jamieson won silver in the 200m breaststroke at the European Short-Course Championships in Denmark.

The Olympic silver medallist, 25, broke his British record but was beaten by Hungary's world champion Daniel Gyurta.

Britain's Jemma Lowe, 23, added the 100m butterfly silver to the 200m bronze she won earlier in the meet.

Aimee Willmott, 20, and Chris Walker-Hebborn, 23, picked up bronze medals for Great Britain as the 12-strong team finished with eight medals in total.

Scot Jamieson led the Hungarian Olympic champion with 50m to go before being caught in the final two lengths.

Gyurta won in a time of two minutes 0.72 seconds, with Jamieson finishing in 2:01.43 and Germany's Marco Koch third in 2:01.62.

Andrew Willis also beat Jamieson's old British record as he came fourth in an English record 2:02.99.

Lowe beat her Welsh record in 56.32 seconds, finishing behind Sweden's world champion Sarah Sjostrom (55.78).

Willmott clinched bronze from the 400m individual medley final while Walker-Hebborn sealed the first major short-course medal of his career with bronze in the 100m backstroke.

Fran Halsall missed the 50m freestyle podium by 0.08sec as she finished fourth in the final in 23.91.
