Injured Jo-Wilfried Tsonga set to play at Wimbledon

Tsonga reached the quarter-finals of the French Open earlier this month

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is expected to play at Wimbledon after it was revealed the Frenchman had "severely sprained" rather than broken his finger.

Tsonga jarred his finger after slipping in the deciding set of his defeat by Ivan Dodig at the Aegon Championships.

The world number five, who reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon last year, will have another scan on Monday.

But a statement on his Facebook page said: "His participation in Wimbledon is currently not in doubt."

Tsonga, regarded as tournament favourite at Queen's Club following Andy Murray's surprise second-round exit, injured the little finger on his right hand against Dodig.

The Frenchman said immediately after the shock defeat by the Croatian - who was making his debut in the tournament - that he thought the injury was "serious".

But a statement on Friday revealed Tsonga had suffered a "severe sprain of the little finger of his right hand without tearing".
