Wimbledon 2013: Kyle Edmund ready for Jonny O'Mara tie

Kyle Edmund is determined to treat his boys' singles match with friend Jonny O'Mara like any other match.

The Yorkshire player will meet the Scot after both won their second-round matches on Tuesday.

They have been travelling to Wimbledon together, with Edmund doing the driving, but he told BBC Look North: "Maybe tomorrow he won't get a lift."

He added: "I'm sure I will give him a lift. We always have banter so nothing will change."

The pair stay together at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton and sometimes train together but Edmund is sure their preparations for the match will follow their regular routines.

O'Mara is playing at Wimbledon for the second year in a row

"We'll do our normal stuff and then once we're on the match court we'll just get on with it and play the match and play the ball rather than the player .

"We haven't actually played matches in a long time - we played one when we were 12 years old but since then nothing.

"It will be nice to play him and it will be a good challenge for me."

Edmund lost in the first round of both the men's singles and doubles at this year's Championships and despite the results has relished the experience of playing at Wimbledon, as well as at other major events recently.

"I think I've learned a lot through Queen's, Eastbourne and Wimbledon," he said. "It's been an amazing experience to come here and play the top guys in the world and for me it's ultimately to develop my game and I've had some nice results as well.

"This is only my third year on the grass and each time I'm constantly learning how to play on it and I feel like I've improved this year."
