Wimbledon 2013: British pairs out of junior doubles

The last two all-British pairs each went out of the junior doubles events.

Boys Julian Cash and Josh Sapwell lost 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-3) to Enzo Couacaud and Stefano Napolitano.

Harriet Dart and Lana Rush resumed from Wednesday night at a set apiece against fourth seeds Domenica Gonzalez and Carol Zhao but lost the decider 6-1.

It left Kyle Edmund as the last British player in the junior events, as he followed his singles victory with another win in the doubles.

He and Portuguese partner Frederico Ferreira Silva are the top seeds and beat unseeded Maximilian Marterer & Lucas Miedler 6-4 6-3.

Cash and Sapwell had raced into a 3-0 lead in the first set of their match but the French/Italian pair levelled straight away.

Cash then held serve before a delay while Coaucaud was given treatment for a problem with his right leg.

Two games after it was Sapwell's turn to call for the trainer as his right arm received attention.

It clearly worked as three points later he played a quite brilliant reverse shot from behind the baseline through his legs which landed in the far corner to win the point.

With no more alarms the set went to a tie-break and Couacaud and Napolitano won the last four points to take it 7-3 and clinch the 57-minute set.

At this point it was then Cash's turn to have some quick work done on his right leg - and he received more treatment after the third game of the second set.

The Britons had a break point in each of two Couacaud service games but failed to convert and went to another tie-break.

They led it 3-0 but then did not win another point as they slipped out of the competition.

Cash was making his Wimbledon debut and told the BBC: "This is what you dream of when you are young and it was very special to be honest."

Sapwell told the BBC: "Being here was the best experience of my life.

"We had some chances but unfortunately they were too good for us today.

"It was a great honour to play on Court 18, it's a fantastic court, and the crowd were excellent."
