Petra Kvitova beats Eugenie Bouchard to win Wuhan Open title

Kvitova has now won all three meetings with Bouchard

Petra Kvitova defeated Eugenie Bouchard 6-3 6-4 to win the Wuhan Open title and qualify for the WTA season-ending finals in Singapore.

The Czech, 24, enjoyed another victory over Canada's Bouchard, having triumphed in this year's Wimbledon final.

A single break was enough to give the third seed the first set while she built a 5-2 lead in the second.

Bouchard's first break extended the contest before Kvitova closed it out.

The 20-year-old was not able to take her opportunities in China with Kvitova saving seven of eight break points as she won in one hour and 20 minutes.

Kvitova said: "I've had a great second part of the season. It all started a little bit at the French Open, and from there I just kept improving."

A victory for Bouchard would have earned her the biggest title of her career and qualification for Singapore but she is still well placed to reach the end-of-season finals.

"She's beaten me in two finals this year," said Bouchard. "So I will have to figure out what to do to beat her now."
