Former British number one Laura Robson plans to return to the WTA Tour at the BNP Paribas Open in March after a year out with a wrist injury.

The 21-year-old, who had surgery on her left wrist in April, is on the entry list for the tournament at Indian Wells, in southern California.

Robson has not played since losing in the first round of the Australian Open to Kirsten Flipkens in January 2014.

She is expected to first return on the second-tier ITF circuit in February.

Her injury also meant she was not selected for the Great Britain team that will attempt to qualify for the Fed Cup World Group in February.

Robson climbed to 27th in the world rankings in July 2013 after reaching the last 16 at Wimbledon, but has dropped to 941st during her absence.

The Indian Wells tournament runs from 11 to 22 March.
