  1. 'Terrific job'published at 12:28 British Summer Time

I think Fearnley did a terrific job. He would have been expecting a wide swing and he did a great job to get his racquet on it and get some perchance on it but that was a big miss. This is a big opportunity for Fearnley early on.

    Lehecka 1-3 Fearnley*

Oh dear. Consolidate the break, Jacob!

The British number two hands over a 0-30 lead with two double faults.

  3. Fearnley breakspublished at 12:27 British Summer Time

    Lehecka 1-3 Fearnley*

Stunning return. Brilliant from Fearnley who finds the line and completely bamboozles Lehecka.

  4. Break point Fearnleypublished at 12:26 British Summer Time

    *Lehecka 1-2 Fearnley

Lehecka nets. Fearnley has a break point!

  5. Deucepublished at 12:26 British Summer Time

    *Lehecka 1-2 Fearnley

Fearnley has a tiny sniff at 15-30, but Lehecka pumps two fast, wide serves.

The Briton gets back in the game soonish though, racing forward on the next rally and forcing an error to set up deuce.

  6. 'That's the way to do it'published at 12:24 British Summer Time

    Andrew Castle
BBC Sport tennis commentator on BBC TV

That surprised me. Fearnley has only been out for a couple of years. That's the way to do it against Lehecka.

  7. 'Two different players on the court'published at 12:23 British Summer Time

    Andrew Castle
BBC Sport tennis commentator on BBC TV

Two quite different players here. Jacob with his forehand spin and Lehecka with a more flat hand.

  8. Fearnley holdspublished at 12:22 British Summer Time

    *Lehecka 1-2 Fearnley

Very little drama from either of these players. A total change to Fearnley's quarter-final where opponent Corentin Moutet was a proper showman and often complained to the umpire between points.

Was a different atmosphere. I'll leave it at that.

Anyway, Fearnley continues his serve-volley approach and holds to 15.

  9. Lehecka holdspublished at 12:18 British Summer Time

    Lehecka 1-1 Fearnley*

Decent start from Lehecka as well. He races forward, very imposingly, and Fearnley wallops one into the net to give the Czech a simple hold.

  10. Postpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time

    *Lehecka 0-1 Fearnley

Strong start from Fearnley who has a little wobble and double faults, but then aces to hold to 30.

He's straight over to an ice towel. Don't blame him.

  11. 'Lehecka has a good set of legs'published at 12:14 British Summer Time

    Leon Smith
GB Davis Cup captain on BBC TV

I'm struggling with the heat, I am a Scotsman! I am surprised Jacob is in all black.

Lehacka is a powerful man and he has a good set of legs, that he would be proud of.

  12. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time

    Lehecka 0-0 Fearnley*

Off we go! Jacob Fearnley's in all black just like he was yesterday. A bold move in this heat.

Jacob Fearnley and Jiri Lehecka meet in the last eight but have already faced each other in a Queen’s quarter-final this week.

Fearnley and partner Cam Norrie beat Lehecka and Taylor Fritz in straight sets last night to earn the British wild card pairing a spot in the doubles semi-finals.

Less than 24 hours later, Fearnley will be hoping to reach the same stage in the singles, which would make him the first British player to reach the semi-finals on their debut here since Mark Cox in 1977.

I remember live-texting Jiri Lehecka dismantle Cam Norrie a couple of years back and ever since he's been on my radar.

He's a real fighter. Never gives up on a point.

He was as high as world number 22 after Australia this year, and is a former Wimbledon doubles junior champion.

He'll be a very tough opponent.

First up, it's British number two Jacob Fearnley.

The world number 60 is on a dream run this year. Two years ago he was unranked. Last July he broke into the world top 500.

This is his first ATP quarter-final and he's up against a player in the world's top 30.

But, he does have some big scalps already to boost his confidence. Tomas Machac and Ugo Humbert were dispatched in the clay-court season.

    Same again for Jacob?
