If the first set of Emma Raducanu's win over Rebecca Marino required ruthlessness, the second asked for patience and resilience.

Paul: There is really good depth on GB and they can definitely go to the final. Win it? Maybe but Italy look really strong with a great doubles partnership.

More from GB's captain Anne Keothavong: "We were highly motivated for this. Credit to all the other team members, we wanted to give her as much energy as possible.

"Katie [Boulter] was absolutely crunching the ball, when she strikes the ball it is devastating. It's a great positon to go in when Emma [Raducanu] sets the bar high. I couldn't be prouder of the girls."

Anne Keothavong on who is going to stop GB this year? "Oooh! Look, I'm in a fortunate position to captain an amazing group of people. I really believe we have got a team that can win this competition. We're not there yet, there is still some work to do but we can enjoy this moment. Slovakia will prove to be another tough challenge for us and anything is possible."

    Fernandez 2-6 4-6 Boulter

If we're going by rankings, Great Britain have been the favourites against both Germany and Canada.

The same thing applies against Slovakia.

Rebecca Sramkova is their highest ranked player at 43rd - that's 19 places below British number one Katie Boulter.

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, Slovakia's next best player, is 110th in the world.

Don't underestimate them, though. They've knocked out 18-time winners USA and seven-time champions Australia this week.

  8. 'We've got a great chemistry going on'published at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November

GB's Katie Boulter speaking after beating Canada's Leylah Fernandez: "I was doubting myself the whole time! No, I'm really happy with my level today. Emma [Raducanu] makes it really easy to come out here and have a swing and 1-0 up so full credit to her for starting us off well. Really proud of my performance today, I just wanted to come out here and really go at the defending champs and hopefully get a win. Really pleased with myself.

On her performance: "Actually in the team room last night, Emma told me to slow down a little bit so she could get out here and watch. I slowed it down a little bit for her. This is pretty much because of her. I feel like I'm being a team player right now, she got an extra couple of games to get out here and watch so that's nice for her.

On her levels: "I feel like I have been here for quite a while now. We were playing a lot of matches just to get through. I feel like we have been building for some time now and it is finally coming out. We have got a great team, all of the girls are great people. We've got a great chemistry going on. So proud of everyone here."

    The Brits are getting brash!

When Anne Keothavong is asked who is going to stop Great Britain winning the thing, all the fans around us shout in union.

    "No-one!"

Keothavong is a tad less unequivocal.

But her pre-tournament assertion that her team has what it takes to lift the trophy on Wednesday is not looking daft.

Four matches played, four matches won. All in straight sets.

Anne Keothavong said earlier this week that she believes Great Britain can win this tournament, and they're definitely making a good stab at it thanks to Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter.

    Up next, Slovakia.

    Electrifying tennis.

Both Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter have done it and got them through to the semi-finals with excellent ball striking, great ability, great mental strength and some drama just to top it off from both of them in those second sets.

It really is incredible stuff from all the team.

What a hit from Leylah Fernandez. The serve looked like it had set Katie Boulter up perfectly, but the Canadian sends the ball deep and Boulter can't adjust her feet quick enough. 30-30.
