A few errors have just started to creep into Laura Siegemund's game at the start of this set and a double fault puts her up against it at 0-30.

Sabalenka earns break point and takes it with a delicate cross-court backhand that Siegemund can't quite get to.

Taylor Fritz is in trouble again.

A thumping backhand return is too much for the American and Karen Khachanov levels the game at 30-all. A similarly heartily struck forehand takes the game to deuce.

Siegemund has not dropped a set in the Championship so far which is incredible. Her stats show such shot variation. She is using every inch of the court and Sabalenka never knows what is coming.

Sabalenka is doing a great job of staying calm. We have seen her get very frustrated but she needs to keep driving the ball and not be reckless.

It's a hold for Aryna Sabalenka but Laura Siegemund had her chances.

At 15-30, the 37-year-old had options but went for the big forehand and sent it long.

Then at 30-30, she overcooks a backhand return. Sabalenka happily accepts those gifts and holds to 30.

Karen Khachanov is flying.

An ace out wide brings up 40-15 in style before Taylor Fritz hits a backhand return long for another routine hold.

Khachanov has won five games in a row. Fritz is serving to stay in the set. His first serve percentage is down at 38% in the third.

It is so hard in those situations to take the scoreboard out of your mind but Siegemund did so well.

That was a masterclass in tactics from the German. An incredible start from her. Sabalenka was playing catch-up the whole time.

Siegemund needs to keep bringing a combination of shots and different speeds.

Well what has happened to Tayor Fritz here?

He was cruising to having a few more hours free this afternoon but since he was broken for the first time he's not landing his first serves as much and he's hitting shots long.

Unlike Karen Khachanov he's been pretty emotionless throughout but he's starting to show signs of frustration at what is transpiring here now.

Khachanov breaks again! He's had three break points in the third set and converted two of them.

Up 15-0 on serve, he buries two routine forehands in the net. An ace brings the back to 30-all but Karen Khachanov forces deuce with a backhand down the line.

What an inspired set of tennis from Laura Siegemund. She's completely neutralised Aryna Sabalenka's huge serve and it is frustrating the life out of the world number one.

She has, perhaps not surprisingly, immediately gone off court for a reset.

He's not missing by a lot but Taylor Fritz keeps hitting the wrong side of the baseline. He's given up five unforced errors across the first three games.

Karen Khachanov holds to 15 and in the blink of an eye, he's up 3-0 in the third set.

Laura Siegemund takes the first set!

For the first time at this year's Wimbledon, Aryna Sabalenka must respond to dropping a set.

It's a brilliant set from the German, she's played this almost perfectly. Drop shots galore, plenty of slices but the precision to put away winners into the corners when the opportunities arise.

The key point at this game comes at 15-0 with the pair exchanging drop shots before Siegemund goes for another and then gets into position to calmly put away the volley at the net.

Few saw this coming. How will the top seed respond?

Siegemund won't be over-powering anyone with her serve but she is keeping her first serve percentage up high. Sabalenka is just managing to hang onto this first set.

The crowd are loving the drama on Centre Court.

I hoped the nerves didn't show up for Siegemund as she tried to serve out the set. Sabalenka definitely saw those nerves. Will there be a dip in quality for Siegemund for the rest of this set now?

Five breaks in eight games is so unexpected for this match.

Aryna Sabalenka has not dropped a set yet in the tournament - and that is still the case for now.

The 27-year-old gets a break back when Laura Siegemund's lob goes long.

Now the top seed will look to ramp up the pressure on her German opponent with a hold that would close the gap to a single game.
