Summary

  1. Rublev holdspublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 6 July

    Rublev 1-0 Alcaraz*

Andrey Rublev has only been broken twice in the opening three rounds.

The Russian hasn't played anyone even close to the level of Carlos Alcaraz but lays down an early marker with a hold to love.

  2. 'Norrie changing things up'published at 18:11 British Summer Time 6 July

Cam needs to be a little bit more offensive. Sometimes it feels like he is waiting for Jarry to make an unforced error.

Norrie is finally going big down the tee with his serve, that is a good change up from him because every other one was going straight to Jarry's backhand.

I don't know if my heart can take a fifth set!

Oooh, the Briton just long with a forehand! Set point for Jarry to level the match...

Carlos Alcaraz and Andrew Rublev warm up

While title rivals Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic have made relatively serene progress through the draw, reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz has not exactly had everything his own way so far.

He was given a scare by Italian veteran Fabio Fognini in his five-set opener and also lost a set in what he called a "stressful" third round win against world number 125 Jan-Lennard Struff.

The ebbs and flows of Alcaraz matches are quite the contrast to the near-robotic consistency of world number one Sinner in particular, but the Spaniard tends to save his very best for the biggest moments - as Sinner discovered in brutal fashion in last month's French Open final.

What does the world number two have in store for us this evening, I wonder?

    *Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (9-7) 6-6 (3-4) Norrie

Cameron Norrie was in a similar position in the third-set tie-break before serving a double fault to give the initiative back to his opponent.

This time it's Nicolas Jarry's power that proves too much for the Briton.

Carlos Alcaraz is not too familiar with the feeling of losing.

Alcaraz has not lost since 20 April, registering 21 successive victories and is on his best-ever winning run.

During this current winning sequence, the world number two has picked up titles at the Italian Open, French Open and Queen's.

He's looking to make it four titles on the bounce at Wimbledon, having been crowned champion at SW19 in each of the past two years.

Just four men have won at least three successive Wimbledon titles in the Open Era - Bjorn Borg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

Will Alcaraz be part of that elite group come Sunday?

    Jarry 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (9-7) 6-6 (2-4) Norrie*

    BANG!

A solid serve-and-volley from Nicolas Jarry but Cameron Norrie pings a forehand down the line for a winner.

Now Norrie has the advantage of a mini-break.

And he gets a bit of fortune to extend his lead to two points at the changeover.

The new balls are going a little bit further than the players are anticipating at the moment.

Norrie is being too predictable with the wide serve and Jarry is continuing to put it away. Jarry is reading the play really well and Norrie needs a little bit of a change up.

    Big miss from Nicolas Jarry.

Cameron Norrie advances to the net but it's not the best approach. Jarry passes him but sends it long.

Then Norrie nets a backhand on game point. Deuce.

Excellent movement after the serve from Jarry. He just uses the weight of his body to shift it in place and makes it look so easy.

It feel like we will see another tie-break. The momentum feels a little bit more with Jarry at the moment. Being a man with a big serve, he should feel confident with tie-breaks.
