Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova awaits the winner of this match - the Russian beat Great Britain's Sonay Kartal in her fourth-round match earlier today.

Finding a victor won't be quite as straightforward as we thought at the end of the first set, as Linda Noskova finds a break of serve early in set two.

Carlos Alcaraz is being very clever serve-volleying every point here.

He just doesn't want Andrey Rublev to settle and get his sights in.

    It was like lightning.

Almost like the decision, whether deliberate or it just unfolded, certainly in the last round Alcaraz played a high level of tennis throughout. But today, it is like he is just picking moments when lightning will strike and he will just whip that ball.

Andrey Rublev is a great competitor. He hates to lose so he will be fighting to the end here, that's for sure.

He isn't being pushed back by Carlos Alcaraz either. If you look at where he hits on the rallies, it is about where he stands to serve. He won't let Alcaraz push him deep behind the baseline.

It is a scary thought that Carlos Alcaraz is still looking to improve.

He adjusted his backhand a little bit recently, making his takeback a little bit lower. We tend to see that move in players who start their careers with bigger swings, because you just don't have time to take a big swing against the top players.

    *Rublev 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 4-6 1-1 Alcaraz

    Deary me, Carlos Alcaraz.

The Spaniard holds to love, doing so with consecutive aces.

Two quick-fire games at the start of this fourth set.

    The difference is quite extraordinary.

When Carlos realised he had to elevate his level, he had to produce more, the concentration on his face changed entirely.

  14. 'Rublev clearly realises he needs to hit big serves'published at 20:13 British Summer Time

Sometimes even when Andrey Rublev hits a serve on the line it isn't good enough.

He has been serving pretty well. His service percentage has dropped a fraction, but he is still going for the lines. Sometime he doesn't quite hit it, but he clearly realises that he needs to hit big serves right towards the lines to get past Carlos Alcaraz.

It's just been the occasional missed volley or double fault tonight.

Carlos Alcaraz hits consecutive aces to go 30-0 up before Andrey Rublev fails to return his third serve.

The Spaniard takes the set with an audacious drop shot that the Russian can't get to.

He just doesn't feel nerves, does he? What a time to do it.

Andrey Rublev does all he can for now.

American Amanda Anisimova has taken the first set on Court One, the scene of Cameron Norrie's dramatic five-set win earlier today.

Anisimova, the 13th seed, broke Linda Noskova's first service game on her way to a 3-0 lead and controlled the set from there.

  18. Alcaraz holdspublished at 20:05 British Summer Time

    *Rublev 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 3-5 Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz broke to lead 5-3 in the previous set and then served out.

He's got a little more work on his plate here but a hold now will put him on the brink of taking the third.

Alcaraz gets to 40-0 but Andrey Rublev keeps him waiting for the hold when his forehand skips off the paint.

Rublev gets to 40-30 but sends just long and Alcaraz has the hold.

The closed roof really does accentuate the ‘pop’ sound on the ball as these two clobber it back and forth.

It also makes double faults into the net sound all the more dramatic.

That’s a really painful one for Andrey Rublev as it leads to the break, and he sinks into his chair and has no choice but to listen as those inside Centre Court rise to their feet and cheer that stunning winner from the reigning champ.

He cups his ear to the crowd. Are you not entertained?!

  20. 'The drop shot has to be absolutely perfect'published at 20:01 British Summer Time

    Rublev 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 3-4 Alcaraz*

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC One

Well, that's the pressure that Andrey Rublev puts on Carlos Alcaraz.

Rublev stands up near the baseline a lot, you can see in his stats how often he is close to the baseline or on the baseline. It means the drop shot has to be absolutely perfect from Alcaraz to actually beat him.
