And Novak Djokovic made a winning start to his French Open bid, while Victoria Azarenka reached the second round with 48-minute 'double bagel' win.

Looking ahead, and one of the marquee second-round matches on Wednesday in Paris sees Great Britain's Emma Raducanu take on defending women's champion Iga Swiatek.

They are scheduled to be the third match on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka are among the other players in action on day four at the French Open.

World number five Jack Draper speaking about the playing conditions on Court Suzanne Lenglen: "It's a little different playing indoors. It is obviously a little bit more humid. It doesn't seem like you can get the same amount of speed behind the ball as when the roof is open, with the air. I thought I adapted well to that after the first set, that was another small change.

"In the end, it's not about how you start but about how you finish - and I finished pretty well."

On his success in the past three or four months: "I think it has been about staying fit and putting in the hard work. I've also just been focusing on being consistent every day. I think the biggest things are having amazing people around me and putting in the hard work."

World number five Jack Draper speaking on court after his first-round win: "It was incredible, especially playing with the roof on. You guys showed amazing support for both of us players. I really appreciate you guys coming out and supporting us, that's why we play so thank you."

On losing the opening set but fighting back in the second set: "I think Mattia Bellucci came out and played really aggressive from the start. He was coming out with some amazing shots which caught me a little bit off guard. I was serving a couple of double faults which doesn't help because the margins are so small at this level.

"I'm really proud of the way I turned the game on its head when I started to be more aggressive. It was a really tough battle so credit to Mattia because he played incredibly."

Interviews done. Draper gets a fine reception and then heads over to a queue of fans with big tennis balls and pens after his signature.

Jack Draper is one of the guys to watch, no question about it. That is a terrific win for him.

He has got to be so happy with the way he went about his business. I'm not sure he could've done anything in that first set, his opponent was so fantastic.

But Draper just stayed extremely calm and I think that was the most impressive aspect of what he did. He didn't flinch, he just kept his head down.

Terrific. Draper hits a backhand winner down the line to bring up three match points. 40-0.

A long return from Bellucci. 30-0.

I think it is only a matter of time now. Draper is just looking so in command of this match and I think he can sense what's going on down at the other end of the court.

Bellucci has lost that demeanour that we saw at the beginning of this match, when it was all smiles and happiness. He was giving the crowd plenty to cheer about, but that feels like a long time ago now.

Remember, US Open semi-finalist has never won a French Open match.

After two hours and 33 minutes he's almost there.

What a way to get a double break. Draper forces Bellucci out wide with a forehand and then wins the point with an overhead smash at the net into the opposite corner.

Even Bellucci's smashes aren't working out. The Italian looks very tired as he slams a forehand into the net. 15-30.

Bellucci doesn't have a chance to get his breath back.

This is the first time I've felt like his bubble has burst and his level has dropped off quite dramatically.
