Jannik Sinner is definitely struggling with cramps out there. I've just seen him drink some pickle juice at the switch and there's no way he is doing that for hydration.

He is definitely feeling his cramps out there, potentially even in anticipation as the nerves start to build.

I said it wasn't quite crunch time yet but I think we are there now.

Sinner adds another to his tally and has three break points.

For the first time in this match, both players are holding serve so comfortably.

It's not quite crunch time yet but we are definitely nearing in on it.

This would be a nice moment for Jannik Sinner to make a move...

Carlos Alcaraz looks more relaxed now. He looks like he is feeling comfortable out there.

He just looked so uncomfortable in the first two sets because Jannik Sinner's level was off the charts.

He knows that he cannot have lapses in concentration. He needs to execute points and not be second-best.

Carlos Alcaraz wins two successive points to reduce the deficit and the camera pans to NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr in the crowd, who puts his fingers to his temple as if to suggest focus is needed.

Not sure whether that gesture was aimed at Sinner or Alcaraz but it's the former that takes the next point to seal the hold.

    This match is so fascinating.

It looked like it was going to be one-way traffic for Jannik Sinner, but all of a sudden Carlos Alcaraz is right back in this final.

When you don't know what's going to happen next, this is what we love about sport.

Just going off Jannik Sinner's reaction there, it seems to me that he is feeling things a little bit here. The TV cameras went straight up to see his mum's reaction.

I'm not sure if it is just cramp or if he is feeling a little bit of a pain, but he was wincing there and leaning on that left leg.

Carlos Alcaraz is dashing the ball around beautifully now. Even the Jannik Sinner's shadow, cast by the dropping evening sun in Paris, couldn't reach that winner into the corner.

Sinner looks like he's limping a bit after a forehand is returning into the net for 30-30.

By the way, we've had three hours and 15 minutes of play in this final.

That third set was the shortest of the match so far at 51 minutes - 11 minutes shorter than the opening set despite both running for 10 games.

In the cross-court forehand rallies, the player who steps in and rifles it with pace first is the player that takes command.

That's where Alcaraz has to be careful to not allow Sinner to get on the front foot with his forehand.

Alcaraz thinks he is going to be out here for a while though because he's just handed three racquets to the stringer. He seems optimistic for his future.

    Sinner 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 0-0 Alcaraz*

It's crucial for Carlos Alcaraz to use this momentum and the energy being generated by the crowd on Philippe Chatrier to make a positive start to the fourth set.

Off to a good start as he leads 40-15.

But Jannik Sinner claws his way back for deuce.
