Andreeva should win this match, she is the favourite. She doesn't really have any weaknesses and her attitude on top of that makes her a strong competitor.

Future champions have already imagined themselves winning here. They don't feel like imposters. That's the feeling you get with her. She is not scared, she goes for it.

    Andreeva 1-1 Navarro*

    Martina Navratilova
Nine-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

This is a clash of styles between these two. They are both fairly new customers here so it will be interesting to see who handles the pressure better.

Andreeva has done so much at such a young age. Her serve is where she has the biggest step-up over Navarro in this match-up.

Unreal point. Ben Shelton slips, slices, benefits from a net cord but can still only dish up an easy lob that Lorenzo Sonego hammers away to set up a quickfire break-back point.

And when Shelton sends a volley just long to follow, we're back on serve.

    .

It can be tough to follow a pretty long match on Centre Court and there's a few empty seats for the opening stages of this one.

Perhaps that will help with any nerves Mirra Andreeva has about making her Centre Court debut, she's certainly not showing any sign of them so far.

  9. Navarro holdspublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 7 July

    Navarro 1-0 Andreeva*

    Emma Navarro gets the hold.

A fairly lengthy opening service game from the American.

Mirra Andreeva didn't show any signs of nerves at all.

    *Navarro 0-0 Andreeva

Mirra Andreeva is supposed to be nervous playing for the first time on Centre Court, isn't she?

Novak Djokovic speaking about whether he was suffering with an abdomen issue out on court: "No, it was all good. I was just trying to manage my breathing at times. After 30-shot rallies from the back of the court, you obviously need a breather and you don't have much time. Maybe that was the case."

On winning in this style, rather than in straight sets: "Well I love winning in straights, to be honest, if I can. As you progress in the tournament, the matches are only going to get tougher.

"Alex de Minaur has been an established top 10 or top-15 player for the last couple of years so he is very tough to play against, especially on this surface. So I was definitely more nervous coming into this match and I think that reflected in the first set.

"It was a very difficult encounter, a lot of difficult moments for me. Sometimes I wish I had a serve and volley or a nice touch like Roger Federer's, that would help! But hey, I can't complain. I still have to run a lot and that's fine, it is part of my game."

On playing in front of former rival Roger Federer: "I mean this is probably the first time he is watching me where I have won the match! The last couple of times I lost, so it's good to break the curse. It is obviously great to have Roger here.

"He is a huge champion and someone I admired and respected a lot. We shared the stage for many years and it is great to have him back at his most successful and favourite tournament, no doubt."

  12. Shelton breaks Sonegopublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 7 July

    *Shelton 3-6 6-1 4-3 Sonego

A gasp goes up around Court One as Lorenzo Sonego stumbles and falls, well beyond the baseline, chasing an unreachable Ben Shelton rocket.

The Italian gives his opponent the thumbs-up though.

Shelton's turn to slip the following game in almost an identical scenario but he leaps back to his feet, unflustered.

So unflustered in fact that he fashions two break points - partly down to some sloppy Sonego play - and takes the first of those, aided again by an error from the Italian. Advantage to the American in set three.

A reminder that the winner between Mirra Andreeva and Emma Navarro will face Belinda Bencic in the next round.

  14. Andreeva-Navarropublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 7 July

Right, next up on Centre Court we'll be switching our attention to Mirra Andreeva's match against Emma Navarro.

The Russian sensation reached the fourth round as a 16-year-old in 2023.

Now, aged 18, she's looking to go one step better.

For America's Navarro, the 24-year-old is aiming to replicate last year's run to the quarter-finals.

World number six Novak Djokovic, speaking on Centre Court after progressing to the quarter-finals: "I don't know how I'm feeling to be honest. I'm still trying to process the whole match and what happened on the court. It wasn't a great start for me, it was a great start for Alex de Minaur obviously.

"He broke my serve three times in the first set. We had very windy and swirly conditions on court. He was just managing the play better from the back of the court and I didn't have many solutions, to be honest.

"I kind of reset myself in the second set. It was a tough game to close out the second set and I think that was maybe a momentum shift where I felt I was back in the game. There was a lot of cat and mouse play. There were a lot of slices and he is so good at that.

"He is one of the quickest players, if not the quickest player, we have on the tour. On the grass, where the ball bounces very low, it is extremely difficult to play someone like him if you're not feeling the ball really well. He exposes all of your weaknesses.

"I was very pleased to hang in tough in the right moments and win this one."

Perhaps unsurprisingly, there were a couple of mentions of Roger Federer during Novak Djokovic's on-court interview.

The Swiss legend is in the Royal Box today and Djokovic says he was thrilled to "break the curse" after losing the last couple of matches that Federer has watched him.

Did we say this is Novak Djokovic's 16th quarter-final? It won't ever get old for this man.

You have to hand it to him in so many ways. That first set was one of his worst sets of all time, but he weathered it and closed out with one of his best sets.

It isn't how you start, it is how you finish.

    Calm before/after the storm?

Four fairly routine holds on Court One with both players almost seeming to be getting themselves together for the battle ahead.

Ben Shelton really stepped up the aggression in that second set, as the 'attacking shots' stats show.

Novak Djokovic confirms there was no injury when he was holding his stomach every now and again during the match.

He says he just needed to catch his breath after some of the long rallies. At 38, I'm not surprised!

We'll have more from Djokovic's on-court interview shortly.

    Novak Djokovic celebrates

It is not often that Novak Djokovic, a man who has won 43 of his past 45 matches at Wimbledon, is made to feel quite so uncomfortable here.

A huge cheer for Alex de Minaur as he exits the court. It looked like he would get a look at a fifth - but Djokovic found a way to keep alive his bid to match the watching Roger Federer’s record eight Wimbledon titles.
