Can Cameron Norrie find a breakthrough late in this opening set?

Milos Raonic has looked solid on serve but the Canadian nets for 15-15.

That is a tremendous volley. Norrie had to pick it up really low. Just magnificent - and an excellent hold.

Milos Raonic is peppering line judges like Kingpin hits targets down the bowling alley.

Two officials can't get out of the way of thunderbolt serves from the Canadian, who quickly apologises and asks if they're OK.

    All good.

What a volley that is! Cameron Norrie has to crouch low to dig out a return, but does so brilliantly to maintain control on serve. Milos Raonic is applying pressure at 30-30 but the Briton comes through this latest test to guarantee himself at least a tie-break.

The electronic line-calling system is a bit sluggish. It's a bit warm but doubt it's overheating like your mobile phone does in 35C.

A minute or two goes by as the players wait for the technology to kick into gear, with umpire Mohamed Lahyani having some frantic conversations on his walkie talkie.

"It needs resolving," is the slightly-panicked reply which we hear over the loudspeakers.

Quite, is the tone of the giggles which follow from the fans.

Ouch! One of the line judges is on the receiving end of a Milos Raonic serve but, to her credit, she shakes it off and gets on with it.

Not another one! Raonic catches a different line judge this time as he powers his way to another hold of serve. You would NOT want to be in their position right now with these serves coming in your direction.

    Norrie 5-4 Raonic*

Norrie coasts to another hold of serve to maintain scoreboard pressure on Milos Raonic.

It's been a match of few opportunities - just the single break point in Norrie's opening game - but now the Briton has set up the chance to take this opening set if he can break down the Canadian's powerful serve.

    *Norrie 4-4 Raonic

Cam Norrie creates his first opening at 0-30 on Milos Raonic's serve, but he gets a bit too excited at the net and swats long with the court at his mercy.

It proves to be the turning point as Raonic rediscovers his first serve and blasts in a forehand winner to restore parity.

Bumped into Jamie Murray earlier (almost literally) in one of the corridors underneath the gigantic temporary stand on Queen's centre court.

He was suited and booted! Very strange to see him not in his tennis gear.

The seven-time Grand Slam doubles champion is not playing this week - because he is the tournament director at the west London club.

With one eye on his post-playing career, 38-year-old Murray took on the role for the first time and has responsibility for the organisation of the ATP tournament, particularly in terms of what the players need and want over the week.

"It's something different and a new challenge. It's going well," he said.

Norrie was a bit tight in the first game but after that, he has been very solid on serve. When you play big servers, you have to take business on your side of the court first.

But Cameron Norrie continues to keep pace. Accurate serving from the British number two, who efficiently responds with a love hold of his own.

The music starts up again for the change of ends and on we go on serve in this opening set. Who will blink first?

Half a dozen aces already for Milos Raonic - we've only been on court for 18 minutes. He's got his first serve in every time.

    *Norrie 3-3 Raonic

Milos Raonic reminds us all that he's not all about the heavy-hitting serves as he closes in to the net to tap over a neat volley on his way to a love hold - which he clinches with a sizzling ace.

That's his sixth ace already. It's not going to be easy for Cameron Norrie to break it down.

    Norrie 3-2 Raonic*

A wild forehand from Milos Raonic flies wide and completes another hold for Cameron Norrie, who has certainly settled down now after facing that early break point.

So far, so good for Norrie. Can he find a way to threaten Raonic's serve?

Not been a memorable year for Cameron Norrie so far.

Can the lush courts of the Queen's Club breathe some life into his season?

Norrie has lost 12 of his 27 matches this season, including a bombshell defeat by 773rd-ranked Jack Pinnington-Jones in Nottingham last week.

The 28-year-old reached the Queen's final in 2021 and made a run to the quarter-finals last year.

Some clouds, but mostly blue skies above Queen's Club today. That's what we want to see for the next four weeks!

It's over to Milos Raonic again following that straightforward hold of serve for Cameron Norrie.

Former Wimbledon finalist Raonic has quite a bit of tape around his right knee and hamstring but he's having no trouble serving his way through these early stages. He settles another hold without any issues.

Much better by Cameron Norrie after a slightly nervy opener, this time the British number two comfortably holds to love and lets out a big shout of 'Come on' as he begins to feel a bit of rhythm in his game.

No such issues for Milos Raonic. The big-serving Canadian comfortably wraps up a first hold of serve here, his only blip a single double fault.
