Woops. A long forehand offers Brooksby an in at 30-30 but Draper gets himself out of trouble with an ace.

Jack Draper's opponent has an interesting back story.

In 2021 Jenson Brooksby became the youngest American to reach the US Open fourth round in 19 years, beating Taylor Fritz and competing well with Novak Djokovic along the way.

However, he then had two years away from professional tennis due to a combination of an 18-month ban for missing three out of competition drug tests - reduced to 13 - had surgery on an injury and also revealed in December that he has autism.

The 24-year-old returned to professional tennis in January and was welcomed back by his opponent today Jack Draper.

The British number one beat Brooskby in the third round at Indian Wells before writing "good to have a great player back" on the camera lens.

There's clearly a great deal of respect between the pair, but on court Brooksby will want revenge for the Indian Wells loss.

    Brooksby 1-0 Draper*

Interesting serving technique from Brooksby, who sort of holds the racquet behind his head as he tosses the ball up rather than the more traditional full stretched arm.

Anyway it's worked no problem in his first service game as he takes the hold to 15.

Fond memories for Jack Draper at Queen's.

Four years ago he won his first ATP Tour match here and last year beat top seed Carlos Alcaraz, who won the competition the previous year, to reach the final.

Now he's returning as the second seed and British number one with a seriously good chance of doing well here.

The sun is shining at Queens which is extremely helpful. The stands are completely full. It was day one yesterday and the whole place is rocking and rolling like it’s a final.

There is a zest for entertainment, There is an appetite for people to say ‘the hell with it’ and enjoy themselves that I haven’t felt in previous years.

It is another baking day in west London with the sun beating down on Queen's Club, although there are a few more clouds in sky to provide the occasional respite.

It is, however, only going to get hotter as the week goes on with temperatures set to peak at 31C for the final here on Sunday.

Paper fans are proving the must-have accessory here as the sight of them wafting in unison in the stands at Centre Court is something we will get very used to seeing this week.

It was packed here yesterday as fans enjoyed a day dominated by British players, but there's an even bigger buzz now with British number one Jack Draper and then reigning Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz taking centre stage.

A day packed with British action yesterday with three home players involved.

Dan Evans claimed one of the biggest wins of his career when he upset world number 13 Frances Tiafoe to progress to the last 16 before British number two Jacob Fearnley also advanced, making light work of qualifier Alex Bolt.

But compatriot Cameron Norrie's hopes of replicating his run to the final at Queen's in 2021 were ended by 19-year-old Jakub Mensik.
