That is lovely stuff from Clara Burel. Katie Boulter can only stand and watch the sliced drop shot land at its intended destination.

Two service holds on the board for Katie Boulter, that will certainly do wonders for her confidence.

I think she'll be really pleased with the way she's started here today. Burel has the capability to be a real handful.

  3. Boulter holdspublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 13 April

    *Burel 1-2 Boulter

There's some serious power on Clara Burel's forehand as we see her swat away Katie Boulter's first serve with no trouble whatsoever.

But Boulter holds and walks to her bench at the change of ends with an assured look on her face.

    Burel 1-1 Boulter*

Katie Boulter does remarkably well to recover from a near-tumble on the baseline to reach Clara Burel's drop shot, but the British number one miscues the return entirely.

Burel gets on the board with a fairly straightforward hold.

In a way that could be the best thing that could have happened from Boulter's perspective.

Three double-faults and a break point saved. She manages to get a hold to soothe any ruffled feathers.

A bit more of a spring in her step after that.

    *Burel 0-1 Boulter

Phew! A sigh of relief for Great Britain as Katie Boulter just about gets the hold over the line.

Boulter needs to erase the scar tissue from yesterday.

A third double-fault of the game is not an encouraging sign.

Oh no! Another double fault and it's advantage Clara Burel.

Katie Boulter thought that second serve was in but a quick check by the umpire rules the British number one has double faulted again. Back to deuce.

    Burel 0-0 Boulter*

A nervous start for Katie Boulter who double faults on the opening point.

But the British number one, who said she wasn't aggressive enough yesterday, shows no fear in coming to the net on her way to 40-30.

She's a bit eager on the next point, though, seeing a forehand miss its mark. Deuce.

So a late change to the line-ups for today's singles with Clara Burel coming in to replace Caroline Garcia.

With Garcia - the highest ranked player across the two teams - out of the equation, how will world number Katie Boulter fare today?

We witnessed a superb performance from Emma Raducanu yesterday, will we see the same today?

And what about Katie Boulter? She was off it 24 hours ago, but - on paper at least - will be favourite against Clara Burel first up.

Great Britain captain Anne Keothavong to BBC Sport: "The atmosphere has been fantastic here. It was always going to be a tough challenge for us.

"We won't think any differently going into today, but this team is fired up.

"The team spirit is really high. They're all supporting each other and it's important we get behind each other and whoever is out there on the court feels it."

Again "La Marseillaise" is the louder of the two national anthems as the home crowd - a sea of blue, white and red - sing their hearts out.

  19. 'I know I am on the right track'published at 12:34 British Summer Time 13 April

After an injury-hit 2023, Emma Raducanu is still making her way back from wrist and ankle surgeries last year. The 2021 US Open champion has fallen way down the rankings to world number 302.

But yesterday's impressive win against Caroline Garcia, a former top ten player, showed Raducanu is swiftly returning to her best tennis.

The 21-year-old said yesterday's performance was a "reward" for all the rehab and training she has been doing.

"It was very important to be physical and for me to be able to do that for three sets is a very positive thing, I’m very happy with it," Raducanu told BBC Sport.

"I’ve not been stressed out about the lack of matches or anything because I know I am on the right track, I don’t need to play every single week. I haven’t played since Indian Wells and I came out with a very high performance.

"Everyone likes to do things differently. Me, I think I prioritise developing as a player right now."
