    Shot!

Jack Draper slams a backhand return out of reach for 0-30 on Mariano Navone's serve, and even more praise from the crowd follows as he nails a forehand down the line for three break points.

This is much more like it from the British number one.

    Draper 4-6 4-1 Navone*

Mariano Navone waves his racquet as he calls for more noise from the crowd after denying Jack Draper once more on game point.

But that only serves to refocus Draper, who responds with a wonderful backhand before clinching another game to continue his revival.

    How has he done that?!

Mariano Navone clips the tiniest bit of the line twice in succession to take Draper to deuce.

No wonder the Argentine puffs out his cheeks and raises his eyebrows.

Another hint of Jack Draper's growing confidence as the 15th seed wrongfoots Mariano Navone by arrowing a backhand winner back where it came from and catching the line perfectly for 30-0.

Navone fires back with a forehand following a well-worked point after an ace gets the Briton to game point, and a superb backhand takes the Argentine to deuce.

    *Draper 4-6 3-1 Navone

It's been an excellent response so far from Jack Draper in set two and the Briton will be keen to maintain this momentum with Mariano Navone struggling to push on since taking the opener.

The Argentine world number 47 does well to halt the run of games against him with a comfortable hold, shaking his racquet in the direction of his team.

    That’s more like it!

Jack Draper has upped his level at the start of the second set, causing more damage with his forehand.

A ripper of a winner secures the break and provides encouragement to the British contingent here.

Still, Mariano Navone takes some getting rid of, but Draper takes charge on serve to hold from 40-30.

A clenched fist from Jack Draper, who forces an error from Mariano Navone to get on the board at 30-15 - and again gets reward for putting another ball back in play to reach 40-30.

A bit of momentum building for Draper now. Deuce.

  12. Draper holds to love at start of second setpublished at 05:38 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Draper 4-6 1-0 Navone*

Jack Draper's task has not changed here, with three sets required for a place in the second round.

But the Briton managed to set up just one break point opportunity - in Mariano Navone's opening service game - during that first set.

That's a very encouraging start to set two, though. Draper returns to court and buries a couple of winners on his way to a first love hold of the contest.

The willing is certainly there from Jack Draper, who has successfully navigated a fair few high-pressure points despite finding himself a break down.

The Argentine crashes in a forehand winner for two more set points.

Let’s start with a positive: Draper has done well to fend off six of the seven break points he has faced.

However, there are a lot of negatives. He is far from content out there

The British number one’s footwork isn’t sharp, his groundstrokes aren’t fluid and his body language hardly conveys positivity.

Elsewhere at Melbourne Park, defending champion and world number one Jannik Sinner has got his Australian Open campaign under way.

  19. Set points Navonepublished at 05:25 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    *Draper 3-5 Navone

A must-win service game for Jack Draper, but it's Mariano Navone who is stepping things up.

The Argentine lands a backhand winner on his way to 0-30 as he looks to settle this set at the earliest opportunity.

Draper gets on the board but won't be able to avoid facing set points.

Jack Draper is having to do a lot of graft here.

He has faced break points in three of his four service games - the other going to 30 - meaning he is expending a lot of energy early doors.

    Not ideal.
