Pegula will sit down trailing at the break, but she will still believe.

Sabalenka is two games away from the final.

But Pegula is two games away from drawing level in this set.

    Up for grabs.

Sabalenka saves break point again but an ambitious second serve at game point results in a double fault to take us back to deuce.

A smash volley hands her a second bite of the cherry before she takes the hold with a big serve.

Impressive stuff from the top seed.

Great quality on display this evening. You have to admire Sabalenka's attitude in the most pressurised situation.

    *Sabalenka 4-6 6-3 3-2 Pegula

What?! I thought that was out! Sabalenka's backhand paints the line and takes us to deuce but she just overcooks it on the next point and Pegula will have a third crack at break point.

  8. Sabalenka saves first break pointpublished at 01:59 British Summer Time 5 September

    *Sabalenka 4-6 6-3 3-2 Pegula

What a point to save the first break point. It's cat and mouse tennis with both players running each other ragged but Sabalenka's smash volley has the last word.

  9. Pegula break back pointspublished at 01:57 British Summer Time 5 September

    *Sabalenka 4-6 6-3 3-2 Pegula

Pegula is left standing and staring at Sabalenka's passing shot as the screen shows it kissed the line.

But a couple of points later it's the Belarusian standing with her cheeks puffed out as she misses the forehand for 15-30.

Some nifty net play then brings up break back points for the American.

Pegula just needs to hang in there with patience, keep extending the rallies as long as she can and wait for the errors to come.

I'm not sure 'calm' is a word often associated with Sabalenka on court but she is certainly more in control.

Pegula gets lucky with a net cord that dribbles over in her favour but a couple of big serves put the game back in the Belarusian's control and she moves to take the hold.

    Pegula needed that.

Her first serve is still somewhat lacking but she takes the hold to love and gets herself on the board, reminding Sabalenka she's not going away in this deciding set.

Will it be a third major final for Sabalenka this year or a second career major final for Pegula?

Sabalenka did well to get off to a fast start, but it started to fluctuate again. Some of her play is jaw-dropping the way that it often is, but there's also errors. I'm sure she feels she should have closed down that set easier than she did.

  20. Game and second set - Sabalenkapublished at 01:36 British Summer Time 5 September

    Sabalenka 4-6 6-3 Pegula

Sabalenka gets it all wrong at the net as Pegula sends over the drop shot and that wipes out the first set point.

But Sabalenka lets out a huge roar as a big serve gets the job done at the second opportunity.

We're all square in this semi-final.
