  1. Draper holds to lovepublished at 09:53 Greenwich Mean Time

    Draper 6-7 (3-7) 4-3 Kokkinakis*

That's better from Jack Draper, who fires down two aces on his way to a love hold.

  2. Kokkinakis holds to level second setpublished at 09:52 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Draper 6-7 (3-7) 3-3 Kokkinakis

Thanasi Kokkinakis fails to make the most of Jack Draper's lacklustre drop shot, and again at 40-15 he volleys wide to give the Briton a glimmer of hope.

The 22nd seed can't make the most of it though, and he's left regretting his advance to the net as the ball fizzes by.

We're all square again and the momentum is well and truly back with Kokkinakis.

  3. 'Gauff ready to defend until Burrage cracked'published at 09:50 Greenwich Mean Time

    Gauff 6-3 7-5 Burrage

    Coco Vandeweghe
Former two-time Grand Slam semi-finalist on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

I'm a bit flabbergasted, those last 10-15 minutes it was all going Jodie Burrage's way, she was playing so well, four games in a row in that second set to come back from the break.

Again, this is why Coco Gauff has got to the ranking she's at, her fight does not quit there and she was just ready to defend, defend, defend until Jodie just cracked.

  4. game, set and match

Game, set and match - Gauffpublished at 09:48 Greenwich Mean Time

    Gauff 6-3 7-5 Burrage

Coco Gauff gets the win, but there is a whole lot for Jodie Burrage to celebrate in defeat.

Gauff, undoubtedly one of the pre-tournament title favourites in Melbourne, shows great fight to recover from 5-3 down in set two to settle the match in straight sets.

But Burrage went toe-to-toe with the third seed and it's a night on Rod Laver Arena that the British number seven will not forget in a hurry.

  5. Kokkinakis breaks backpublished at 09:46 Greenwich Mean Time

    Draper 6-7 (3-7) 3-2 Kokkinakis*

Much to the delight of the Australian crowd, Thanasi Kokkinakis once again comes out on top of another lengthy rally to bring up a break point.

And he gets it! The world number 71 runs off court with a football-like celebration, his arm aloft and finger pointed to the sky, after a brilliant passing strike.

Can he back it up and level the set?

  6. Match point Gauffpublished at 09:45 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Gauff 6-3 6-5 Burrage

The door is open for Jodie Burrage at 15-30 and the Briton can certainly take confidence from the lack of consistency Coco Gauff has shown today.

But the American will have her first match point after Burrage misses a forehand.

  7. Vekic gets break backpublished at 09:43 Greenwich Mean Time

    Dart 3-1 Vekic*

It was all looking so good for Harriet Dart but after fending off two break points from Donna Vekic, she finally concedes.

The Briton still has the cushion of a single break, though, so she'll be hoping she can hang in there to take this opening set.

  8. Postpublished at 09:43 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Gauff 6-3 6-5 Burrage

    Coco Vandeweghe
Former two-time Grand Slam semi-finalist on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

It seems like every time Jodie Burrage gets some momentum going the serve just breaks down, there's been quite a few double faults in this set.

  9. Gauff breakspublished at 09:43 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Gauff 6-3 6-5 Burrage

From set point down, Coco Gauff recovers to bring up an opportunity to serve out the match on Rod Laver Arena.

Jodie Burrage has given a great account of herself on one of the sport's biggest stages, and against one of the game's current best players, and it is a huge shame that it's back-to-back double faults which gift Gauff another break.

  10. Kokkinakis holdspublished at 09:41 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Draper 6-7 (3-7) 3-1 Kokkinakis

Sneaky from Thanasi Kokkinakis. He's got his eyes locked in on the right side of the court, but he switches it up last minute and lashes home a forehand winner.

Jack Draper replies with a winner of his own and, after a miss from the Australian, we're level at 30-30.

The 15th seed almost earns himself a break point with some ridiculous defence, but an ace wraps up the game for Kokkinakis.

  11. Game and first set - Cazauxpublished at 09:41 Greenwich Mean Time

    Fearnley 3-6 Cazaux

The first set in the rain-disrupted men's singles match on court six goes the way of Frenchman Arthur Cazaux.

Jacob Fearnley made a slow start before the rain delay and is ultimately unable to deny his opponent, who serves the set out at the second attempt.

  12. 'Gauff not happy with serve'published at 09:38 Greenwich Mean Time

    Gauff 6-3 5-5 Burrage*

    Russell Fuller
Tennis correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

Coco Gauff is not happy with her serve, it's not the fluent, ruthless performance we've seen so far this season, it's another double fault from Gauff.

  13. Gauff holds servepublished at 09:38 Greenwich Mean Time

    Gauff 6-3 5-5 Burrage*

So near, yet so far for Jodie Burrage.

Coco Gauff survives yet another double fault to hold serve from 40-30 and bring us level once again in set two, after the British number seven served for the set.

Which way will this one swing next?

  14. Dart gets double breakpublished at 09:37 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Dart 3-0 Vekic

Things are looking very good indeed for Harriet Dart on Court 12.

The Briton, who reached the main draw as a lucky loser, is 3-0 up against world number 19 Donna Vekic.

The Croat, a semi-finalist at Wimbledon last year, has been broken twice by Dart in these early stages.

  15. Fearnley holds servepublished at 09:36 Greenwich Mean Time

    Fearnley 3-5 Cazaux*

After getting one of two breaks against him back in the opening set, Jacob Fearnley manages to hold from deuce as he follows up an ace with a closing forehand.

The Briton just won't let go in this first set and now he will look to maintain his momentum on the Frenchman's serve to further extend this.

  16. Postpublished at 09:36 Greenwich Mean Time

    Draper 6-7 (3-7) 3-0 Kokkinakis*

    Gigi Salmon
BBC Sport tennis commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

A sigh of relief for Jack Draper, he saves a break point, he consolidates and he leads in the second set.

  17. Draper holdspublished at 09:34 Greenwich Mean Time

    Draper 6-7 (3-7) 3-0 Kokkinakis*

There we go. Jack Draper backs up the break to take a 3-0 lead as Thanasi Kokkinakis drags a backhand well wide.

  18. Gauff breaks back to stay in setpublished at 09:33 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Gauff 6-3 4-5 Burrage

Arghhh. Frustration for Jodie Burrage as she lets Coco Gauff off the hook with a poor game, double-faulting on the first of two break points.

She was so close to levelling the match against the third seed.

  19. Postpublished at 09:33 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Draper 6-7 (3-7) 2-0 Kokkinakis

Frustration from Thanasi Kokkinakis, who pushes the ball into the net despite being in control of the rally.

But Jack Draper can't get the hold over the line. Deuce. Again.

  20. Postpublished at 09:32 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Draper 6-7 (3-7) 2-0 Kokkinakis

Very, very nice. A cross-court backhand winner wrongfoots Jack Draper and hands Thanasi Kokkinakis a break back opportunity.

But we're sent back to deuce as the Briton successfully pulls off a serve-volley combo.
