It has probably been a shock to the system for Eva Lys.

We have all been admiring how Lys hits the ball. Technically, it all looks quite sound and she has got a lovely looking game but she is coming up against so much pressure with the pace, timing and tempo of the match.

I think the difficulty for her is not having a big serve, instead they are well-placed and they sit up rather invitingly.

She doesn't really put too much pressure on Swiatek with where she is putting the ball and there isn't enough pace on them to put it out of her reach.

Russia's ninth seed Daria Kasatkina has levelled her fourth-round tie with American eighth seed Emma Navarro, saving three match points in the second set.

The pair traded multiple breaks of serve with Kasatkina three times on the brink of defeat, but she fought back magnificently to take it to a decider.

The pair are aiming to reach the last-eight in Melbourne for the first time.

What a point from Eva Lys. The crowd appreciated that one as the lucky loser sends Iga Swiatek out wide, and then wider again and eventually even she can't get a return away.

But that's as good as it gets for Lys, with Swiatek taking the break.

She's one game away from the quarter-finals. Can she serve it out?

YES! Eva Lys is on the board and she's got a massive smile on her face.

At least she'll avoid the double bagel now.

    Lys 0-6 0-2 Swiatek*

The good thing is Eva Lys is still smiling. It was always going to be a big ask beating five-time major winner Iga Swiatek on Rod Laver Arena, but it looks like she's trying to make the most of the experience.

There's just no stopping Swiatek at the moment and the Pole looks acrobatic as she dashes to the net and smashes home.

But, don't rule Lys out just yet. The German flings down a forehand winner and takes us to deuce.

Gael Monfils' exciting run at the Australian Open is over with the Frenchman retiring in the fourth set against American 21st seed Ben Shelton.

Monfils, 38, moved gingerly through the latter half of the third set and appeared to have nothing left by the fourth.

Shelton, who's into his second quarter-final in Melbourne, is 16 years younger than Monfils and paid tribute to him in his post-match interview.

"I’ve watched him since I was a little kid. I always say he has the greatest highlight tape of all time," said Shelton.

It is quite awesome to watch Iga Swiatek in this kind of form.

She isn't a stranger to 6-0 and 6-1 sets. There is a joke that goes around social media about Iga's 'bakery' because she is always getting bagels and breadsticks in her scorelines!

Fair play to Eva Lys, who is playing her heart out and still smiling. She is trying to make the best out of this opportunity, having had a great run.

I don't think she could be doing any more than what she is doing.

Utter dominance from Iga Swiatek as she controls the point from the baseline, sending Eva Lys to one side of the court and then back the other way. It's almost like she's toying with the German.

Lys lets out an agitated yell as she loops her backhand wide.

    Two break points for Swiatek.

It's going to be a shock to Iga Swiatek's system when she loses a game!

But it's hardly surprising because she plays with such intent on every single point. You can tell from her body language, her footwork skills, her work-rate, her preparation on the racquet and the energy she is putting into every single point.

At the moment, we are watching perfection in terms of what she is putting out onto this court.
