A lot of us weren't even born in 2002 - Errigal Ciaran hero Canavan

Ruairi Canavan's sensational scoring haul of 0-9 helps Errigal Ciaran reach a first Ulster Club Football Final since 2002 as they edge out 14-man Clann Eireann 0-14 to 1-10 at Pairc Esler.

"It’s new ground for our whole team. A lot of us weren’t even born in 2002 when we won it last," said man of the match Canavan.

His manager Enda McGinley hailed his team's "character" in grafting out the victory after "not playing well in the first half".

"We know football is brilliant when you are playing well and winning and we know the real test of teams is when you are playing poorly. That was our test today," said the Errigal Ciaran boss.

"To come through the preliminary round, to come through the Tyrone championship and to get to an Ulster Club Final is a huge thing for the boys but as I said to them….there’s no point in going through that amount of work and then being happy with runners-up."
