Conlon's relief as Clann Eireann battle past Newbridge

Clann Eireann forward Jack Conlon felt his side showed "character" to regroup from Newbridge's impressive third quarter as they edged a 0-14 to 0-12 win in the Ulster Club SFC quarter-final at Celtic Park.

Conlon top-scored for the Armagh champions with 0-4 and notched their final point in injury-time after a brilliant interception by his team's skipper Conor McConville.

"We’re definitely happy to come out two-point winners. A tough, tough game," said Conlon.

"Conor made an unbelievable interception. Barry [McCambridge] came off him so I knew if I peeled away, Barry’s a strong runner and he’d take the Newbridge defender with him. So I just popped round and was happy to get the score at the end."
