Welsh golfer Amy Boulden not thinking about Rookie of the Year

Welsh golfer Amy Boulden says she is focusing on winning the India Open, rather than Rookie of the Year.

Boulden, 21, already has three top-five finishes on the Ladies European Tour in 2014 and leads the Rookie of the Year standings with two events to go.

The Llandudno-born golfer tees off in Delhi on Thursday, before the season ends at the Dubai Masters next week.

"I'm just trying to get my best finish so far this year and that would be a win," said Boulden.

"I'd really like to get that before I finish the season. I'm trying not to think too much about the Rookie of the Year, because I know that's all everyone is talking about."

Boulden claimed her first professional title in May and also competed at the US Women's Open and the British Open this year.

She lies 24th in the overall rankings, meaning she is guaranteed her Tour card for next year, and leads Scottish golfer Sally Watson in the Rookie of the Year standings.

Boulden tied for second at the French Open in October, but is feeling confident of a first win at the India Open.

"I've worked hard on my game over the last few weeks. I was in Dubai just before coming here, working on my game. I'm feeling good.

She added that she will have to be at her best in Delhi: "It's quite tight and it's quite short so I've definitely got to be accurate.

"The greens are pretty big so I think putting is going to be a key thing around here this week."
