Welsh jockey Sean Bowen has become first 17-year-old to win jump racing's apprentice jockey title.

His triumph was sealed by winning the Bet365 Gold Cup Sandown feature race on Just A Par.

Bowen, tipped as a potential future champion, was completing a double on the day after victory on Lil Rockerfeller in the opener.

Just A Par's trainer Paul Nicholls then saw Rolling Aces die following the second race.

Bowen beat Nico Nico de Boinville to the title on the day AP McCoy retired.

The Welsh youngster has been tipped to become a future champion.
