Shelley Rudman heads GB skeleton World Cup squad

World champion Shelley Rudman will be joined by five British skeleton sliders at this season's World Cup events.

Lizzy Yarnold and Donna Creighton won the selection battle to join Rudman, who also won Olympic silver in 2006 and was pre-selected, in the women's squad.

Rudman's fiance Kristan Bromley, the 2008 world champion, joins Ed Smith and Dominic Parsons in the men's squad.

Britain can send a maximum of three men and three women to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The number of places for each country will be determined by athletes' individual FIBT [International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation], external world rankings in mid-January.

Amy Williams, who won the 2010 Olympic title, external in Vancouver, retired in 2012.
