Elise Christie adds bronze to speed-skating World Cup gold

Christie won her first European Championship title last month

British short track speed skater Elise Christie has added a World Cup 500m bronze to the gold she won on Saturday.

Christie finished third in the final World Cup 500m event of the season in Erzurum, Turkey, on Sunday to place fourth in the overall rankings.

China's Fan Kexin took gold to finish first overall, while Russia's Sofia Prosvirnova claimed the silver.

The medals came in the final outing for Christie, 24, before next month's World Championships in Moscow.

She finished one second ahead of Canadian Kas Bradette in the 1,000m, in one minute 31.513 seconds, while Korean Shim Suk-hee claimed bronze.

The result saw Christie finish second in the 1,000m World Cup rankings,, external while Shim's third place was enough for the title.

It followed two bronzes for the Scot in Seoul and a 500m silver during the last round in Dresden, Germany.

She also won the European Championship title last month.

Her Great Britain team-mate Charlotte Gilmartin placed 48th overall.
