British teenager Mia Brookes secured the overall freestyle snowboard World Cup Big Air title after finishing third in Copper Mountain, Colorado on Friday.

The 16-year-old scored 155.75 over her three runs to finish behind Japanese pair Kokomo Murase and Mari Fukada.

Brookes finished in the top five in all four 2023 Big Air competitions to top the rankings and win the Crystal Globe.

"I've been planning on this achievement since the start of the tour this year," she said.

"To finish it off with a podium is so special. I'm excited for slopestyle season to start soon after Christmas."

Cheshire-born Brookes became the youngest world champion in snowboard history with slopestyle gold in February and had her best World Cup finish in Edmonton, Canada last week, taking silver behind New Zealand's Zoi Sadowski-Synnott.

Fellow Briton Zoe Atkin also secured a podium finish with bronze in the halfpipe freestyle skiing, behind winner Eileen Gu of China and Hanna Faulhaber of the United States.

In the men's event, the USA's Red Gerard, 2018 slopestyle Olympic champion, finished third behind Japanese winner Hiroaki Kunitake and 18-year-old Sam Vermaat of the Netherlands.
