Efallai mai gwleidyddiaeth, gloddesta ac hamddena sy'n mynd â bryd y rhan fwyaf o'r ymwelwyr i'r Bae erbyn heddiw, ond mae atgofion o'r gorffennol i'w gweld yn frith o gwmpas y lle.

Welcome to Cardiff Bay, the venue for this year's National Eisteddfod. Since its regeneration, it has become the political and cultural centre of the city. But there are still glimpses of the vanished history of the city's docklands in the buildings and street art. How many of these are you familiar with and how much do you know about them?

Sgwâr Loudoun oedd canolbwynt ardal Bae Teigr. Roedd yn gartref i gymuned amlddiwylliant cyntaf ac enwocaf Cymru gyda thros 57 o ieithoedd, gan gynnwys y Gymraeg, i'w clywed ar ei strydoedd.
Loudoun Square, once the beating heart of Tiger Bay, where sailors and workers from over 50 countries settled. The area was razed during the 1960s and a thriving community was displaced.

The Millennium Centre is nicknamed The Armadillo due to its copper-coloured dome. The striking bilingual inscription was written by poet Gwyneth Lewis. The Welsh version "Creu Gwir Fel Gwydr o Ffwrnais Awen" translates as "Creating truth like glass from the furnace of inspiration."

This water feature is familiar to viewers of the Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood, whose headquarters are located below it.

The oval basin is named Roald Dahl Plass after the Cardiff-born author. The word "Plass" means 'space' in Norwegian, a nod to Dahl's Norwegian roots.

Roald Dahl was baptised at the Norwegian Church and when it came under threat of demolition he headed the campaign to rescue it. The landmark building is now an arts centre.

Once the focal point of commerce in Wales, the iconic Pierhead building was built in 1897 as the headquarters for the Bute Dock Company. It is now a visitor, events and conference venue which will host activities for Welsh learners during Eisteddfod week.

The Welsh nightingale, Ivor Novello was born in Cardiff, and through his Welsh-speaking mother's influence, the young Ivor performed at Eisteddfodau across the country from an early age.

This plaque on the wall of the Sainsbury's store opposite the Wales Millennium Centre marks the area where sailors who needed a ship to work on used to wait in the hopes of a job.

The sculpture combines the hull of a shipwrecked ship with the shape of a face. It is a memorial to the Merchant Seamen from South Wales who served during World War II.
