Jersey children get beach safety lessons

  • Published

Jersey children are being taught how to play safely on the island's beaches during Safety in Action Week.

About 1,000 nine and 10 year olds are attending workshops organised by the Child Accident Prevention Group.

A survey showed a lack of knowledge about rip currents and what the red and yellow beach flags mean.

During the summer about 400 children end up in the island hospital's emergency department each month after having an accident in Jersey.
