A man arrested in connection with the death of Gogglebox star George Gilbey has been released on bail, police said.

Gilbey, 40, died from traumatic head and torso injuries after he fell through a skylight while working on a roof in Shoeburyness, Essex, in March.

Police said a man, 36, from Witham, arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter had been released on bail.

A 47-year-old man, also from Witham, who was held over the same alleged offence, has since been released under investigation.

A joint investigation being undertaken by police and the Health and Safety Executive continued, Essex Police said.

An inquest into Gilbey's death was opened and adjourned at Essex Coroner's Court last month.

Coroner's officer Deborah Frost said his injuries were "consistent with a fall from height".

"[Gilbey] was working on a roof when he fell through a plastic skylight and landed on the ground below," she told the hearing.

Gilbey, from Clacton-on-Sea, was one of the first regulars on the Channel 4 reality show Gogglebox, where families sitting in their living rooms were filmed reacting to television programmes.

He appeared on the show with his family between 2013 and 2018, and on Celebrity Big Brother in 2014.
