A man has been seriously injured after being shot on a driveway, police have said.
The man is reported to have been shot in the leg twice by two men on a Sur-Ron bike on Radway Road, Huyton, Merseyside, at around 22:10 GMT on Friday.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said he was taken to hospital following the incident, where he remained in a serious but stable condition.
Det Ch Insp Phil Atkinson said: "We are still in the very early stages of an investigation and are determined to find the offenders responsible."
He said he wanted to reassure residents that the force was taking this incident extremely seriously and were relentless in their pursuit of those involved in gun crime.
"This is a residential area and there will be people who may have witnessed the incident, and I urge those people to tell us what you know if they have not done so already," he added.
He appealed for anyone with information or CCTV or dashcam footage.
A force spokesperson said the offenders made off in an unknown direction on the electric bike and officers later recovered a firearm and an electric bike from the area and these were being forensically examined.
A cordon has been put in place on Radway Road and Liverpool Road, and police have been carrying out house-to-house, CCTV and witness enquiries.
