New phase of town roadworks set to begin

Motorists have been warned to expect further delays as work on a new phase of a project to revamp parts of Grantham town centre gets under way.
The £4.19m South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) scheme started in May, with work taking place in Dysart Road and Market Place.
The latest phase includes the area around the town's railway station.
It will include resurfacing work and upgrades to traffic signals.
'Significant disruption'
Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Similar to the ongoing works, we will be the delivery partner for another set of roadworks... at the Station Road/A607 junction.
“As part of these, we’ll be resurfacing and carrying out pedestrian facility upgrades at Harlaxton Road, Wharf Road, Westgate and Sankt Augustin Way."
The work would also include upgrading the existing traffic signals and jet-washing the footpath on the north side of Wharf Road to the southernmost part of Westgate," he added.
The work is due to start on Monday with completion scheduled for 31 December.
“These works will no doubt cause a significant amount of disruption," Mr Davies said.
"However, I want to assure everyone that we’ll be doing all we can to keep this to a minimum," he added.
Access to the railway station is not expected to be affected until late September.
After that, access would be via London Road, with people advised to leave extra time for their journeys.
