Work would include adding new stop lines at the traffic signals on Market Place

Plans for up to nine months of work to improve Grantham town centre have been revealed.

Work would include upgrading traffic signals, adding new stop lines and raising road levels.

The £4.1m funded project comes from South Kesteven District Council's (SKDC) Grantham Future High Streets Fund.

Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) will discuss the plans at a meeting later.

The two-stage project would see changes to both the Market Place and Station Approach in the town.

LCC plan to deliver the project on behalf of the district council, including preparing designs and working with a contractor.

Councillor Richard Cleaver, deputy leader of SKDC, said the works would put the Market Place more "at the heart of Grantham" and improve accessibility.

He also said junction improvements at Station Approach would "help ease traffic issues".

The funding for the project was awarded to SKDC in April 2021 from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
