Burst water pipe leaves homes at risk of flooding

A clean-up operation was under way following the flooding on Saturday evening

A burst water pipe caused a deluge of water that left 30 homes at risk of flooding in Manchester.
Water flooded Borrowdale Crescent in Didsbury just after 17:00 BST on Saturday, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said.
United Utilities said gardens and roads were flooded but the water did not reach the inside of any homes. However a boat was used to rescue one family.
One resident, marketing manager Emma Radcliffe, said: "It was pretty unnerving. The water was knee-deep. There was a boat going round apparently but I didn't need rescuing."
A clean-up operation is under way and, while the water supply has been restored, some residents "may notice fluctuations in their pressure during peak times of the day", the company said.

Water got into gardens and on to the street after the flooding
It added: "Our teams are on site assisting customers and we'd like to apologise for the inconvenience."
Several streets around homes were left covered in mud.
The fire service said: "We'd like to thank residents for their co-operation and patience at this time."
