An ice rink and Christmas tree could return to Jersey for the next three years, if planning permission is granted.

About 29,000 people used the Jersey on Ice skating rink in 2024, a spokesperson for organisers Jersey Development Company (JDC) said.

Jersey on Ice, which also includes food and drink vendors, has been at the Weighbridge, near St Helier's marina, since 2023, JDC said.

The spokesperson said the attraction had become "an important part of the community's festive season, offering a family-friendly venue and winter activity that appeals to all ages".

"The rink provides not only a space for fun and connection through ice skating and curling but also a festive attraction right in the heart of St Helier, enjoyed by both the islanders and visitors," they said.

Free tickets were given to 1,800 local primary schoolchildren in 2024

JDC said Jersey on Ice was privately funded and organised, so there was "no financial burden" on taxpayers.

The company said it offered free places to 1,800 local primary schoolchildren in 2024.

It also donated £15,000 from ticket sales to five local charities: Brightly, Brighter Futures, Centrepoint, Barnardo's, Variety - the Children's Charity of Jersey, the spokesperson said.

A decision will be made at a later date.
