A 38-year-old who was arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found fatally injured on a bench has been released on bail.

Northamptonshire Police launched an investigation after it was called to a footpath behind Auctioneers Court, Northampton, at about 06:30 BST on Friday.

Robert Brown, 57, was found on a bench, and a post-mortem examination on Saturday found he had suffered an arm wound.

On Wednesday the force said a 38-year-old man who had been arrested earlier had been released on bail pending further investigation.

Det Insp Torie Harrison said: "Although we have made an arrest, we continue to follow a number of lines of inquiry and are still very keen to speak to anyone who may have information about Robert's death who has not yet come forward.

"Anyone who can help us piece together the events which led to his death is encouraged to come forward."
