A busy bridge in Hull will shut overnight so a safety inspection can be carried out.

Ennerdale Bridge on Raich Carter Way will be closed between 19:30 GMT and 06:30 for three nights, starting on 26 November.

Footpaths will remain open and a signed diversion will be in place.

Hull City Council said the routine inspection would examine all parts of the structure, including the deck, supports and joints.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo said: “We understand that this is a popular route for road users, but it is crucial that these inspections are conducted to ensure the continued safety and reliability of the structure."

In September, the bridge was shut for two nights so engineers could investigate a fault in its lifting mechanism.
