Engineers will attempt to identify a fault on Ennerdale Bridge

A Hull bridge will close for two nights for "essential investigations" after a fault was discovered.

Ennerdale Bridge, which carries traffic over the River Hull at Kingswood, suffered a problem with the lifting span earlier this year.

Engineers will attempt to diagnose the problem on the nights of 11 and 12 September, when the bridge on Raich Carter Way will be closed from 22:00 to 06:00 BST.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, who holds the transport portfolio at Hull City Council, said it was "crucial" to locate the fault in order to "maintain a safe and reliable transport link".

“While I recognise the inconvenience caused by these closures, I appreciate that they are scheduled overnight to minimise disruption," he added.

Council staff will carry out the investigation alongside workers from Fairfield Engineering Solutions and Rexroth, the manufacturer of the hydraulic system.
