A hospice in Guernsey has has welcomed the Lieutenant-Governor of Guernsey as its new patron.
King Charles III was the former Patron of Les Bourgs Hospice, but bosses said they had been informed by Buckingham Palace he was "unable to continue his role".
Lt Gen Richard Cripwell said he was "honoured" to take up the post for the "wonderful organisation".
He said the hospice did "so much to help and protect people when they are at their most vulnerable".
The hospice at Andrew Mitchell House, which cares for people with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones, made a formal announcement about the appointment at a choral concert at the Town Church of St Peter Port on Friday evening.
The hospice said its board of directors was "deeply grateful" Gen Cripwell had agreed to take on the role.
All Bailiwick residents can come to the hospice as an in-patient, as well as for respite or day care and there is no charge for the services provided.
