Plans to convert former bank into a cafe

The former bank could house a cafe and adult training centre

Plans have been unveiled to transform an empty bank in Lincolnshire into a cafe and training centre.

The former Lloyd's Bank branch in Market Rasen's Market Place would also have learning and office spaces alongside the food outlet, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).

It was closed in 2020 after the banking group shut 31 premises across the country.

The company behind the scheme, Acis Group Ltd, offers training courses for adults.

The organisation plans to move its current training facilities in the town to the new building.

The LDRS states that Acis Group said it anticipates more than 350 people will attend its courses each year in its new premises.

"The hope is that the old bank can offer our client a more suitable venue, and that the service can be relocated, allowing for the original building to be sold and repurposed for another new local venture," the firm told the LDRS.

“The building has been empty now for a period of time and offers the opportunity to serve the local community well."

The company added that it hoped the refurbishment would also help with the regeneration of the Market Place and improve "the street scene aesthetically".
