Pool to be fixed after government's £750,000 grant

A leisure centre is to get funding that will allow its small pool to be repaired and opened to the public again.
Hull City Council has been awarded up to £750,000 from the government’s swimming pool support fund for improvements at Ennerdale Leisure Centre.
The council has also committed money to fix the roof, install solar panels and replace the external doors with triple glazing.
The work will start later this year to minimise disruption.
The council’s cabinet agreed to accept the funding last month and said the work would improve the centre's environmental performance and safeguard its future.
Liberal Democrat councillor Rob Pritchard said: “Ennerdale Leisure Centre is a much-loved facility in Hull, but unfortunately its building fabric is approaching 40 years old and needs regeneration."
A spokesperson for Kingston upon Hull Swimming Club, which uses the pool, said: “This is excellent news – the small pool is in need of updating.
"More swimming lessons will be able to be held in there and it will rejuvenate our home pool.
"The centre does need updating because there are lots of leaks that need sorting."
