An 83-year-old man has been jailed for one year and eight months after admitting causing grievous bodily harm with intent to an 81-year-old woman over New Year.

Terrence Clarke, of Buckingham Street, Aylesbury, was charged with attempting to murder the elderly woman.

At a previous court hearing Clarke denied attempted murder but admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm.

He was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Monday.
