A two-week-long street festival with live music, theatre and dancing is set to return to the island.

Guernsey Street Festival, which has run for three years, will take place St Peter Port from 10:00 BST on Saturday.

Events will take place every day until 3 August, excluding Sundays.

Founder Claire Dawson said islanders were "so very lucky to have such an enormous amount of talent on our island and a beautiful town".

Local talent

There will also be sessions for children which include storytelling events as well as fancy dress.

Event organisers said the festival was founded to "showcase local talent" and "encourage people into town to shop local".

At 10:00 BST on Saturday a parade of volunteers and performers will take place from the Sunken Gardens through the High Street and up to Market Square, and people have been encouraged to join in if they wish.

The parade will end with a performance from a UK jazz band called DixieMix.

Performances will run daily from 10:00 to 15:00 BST at eight performance zones throughout St Peter Port.
