Plane spotters could land refreshments van
- Published
Plane spotters in Guernsey could soon be able to buy refreshments as they scan the skies.
Guernsey Ports is offering food and beverage businesses a chance to have a spot in the so-called Spotters Car Park at La Villiaze.
"Ideally, this would suit a stand-alone unit, such as a trailer or food van," said Guernsey Ports (GP).
But GP also said it was "open to alternative proposals for the car park, which offers views across the airport".
"This is an excellent and well-used location for plane spotters enjoying views across Guernsey Airport, while local cycle groups are also known to convene here," said commercial development project manager David Buddery.
"With little to no amenities at the site currently, we are seeking expressions of interest from anyone interested in running a self-sustainable business here."
He said the expressions of interest would "test the appetite for a food and beverage service on the site" as GP looked at "options for increasing revenue".
"This is part of a much wider initiative to develop underutilised areas of the aerodrome and to increase our non-aeronautical revenue," he said.
