Tram services between two Greater Manchester towns are set to restart following temporary repairs to the track due to a serious landslip.

The Metrolink connection between the Oldham Mumps and Rochdale tram stops has been out of action since 10 July.

Services are set to resume on Monday after staff worked "round-the-clock" to make repairs, Pete Sommers of Transport For Greater Manchester said.

The landslip had caused the track to shift sideways and damaged overhead poles.

About 200 meters (656 ft) of track was moved back into position by specialist engineers in what a Metrolink spokeswoman said was a temporary fix.

More work will be needed in the next 12 to 24 months to make the line "more resilient in the long term" she added.

Test trams are set to run in the coming days, with services set to be operational again next week.
