Woman in her 40s dies after canal rescue

A woman in her 40s has died after being rescued from a canal by members of the emergency services.

Wiltshire Police said the woman received emergency health care on the banks of the Kennet and Avon Canal in Rowde, Wiltshire, at about 10:30 BST on Tuesday.

She was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, and later died from her injuries, the force added.

An investigation is under way to determine the circumstances of the incident.

Officers are urging anyone who can help with their enquiries to contact them.
