Detectives have put out a fresh appeal in the hope of bringing a grandmother's killers to justice two years after her death.

Jacqueline Rutter, 53, was shot in the chest at her home in Moreton, Wirral, on 30 October 2022.

Merseyside Police believe two or three people were involved in the attack. Eight suspects have been arrested but nobody has been charged.

Mrs Rutter's family said they cannot understand how anyone could kill their "defenceless" relative.

She was shot in her home on Meadowbrook Road at about 01:00 GMT.

Police believe a black Vauxhall Insignia seen in the area between 00:45 and 01:15 GMT was involved.

Det Ch Insp Steve McGrath, who is leading the investigation, said: “We believe at least two or three people were involved in this incident and we will not stop until we find them."

He added: "If you are close to any of the people who were responsible for this appalling incident, please search your conscience and come forward with what you know so that Jacqueline’s family can finally find peace and justice.”

Police have said they want to speak to anyone who saw the car near Mrs Rutter's home or on nearby Birkenhead Road.

Officers have also appealed for any dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage.
