Four men have been charged after 30,000 suspected illegal cigarettes were seized from a property in Dumfries.

Officers also found 15kg of rolling tobacco and £8,000 in cash in the building in the town's High Street on Friday.

Four men, aged 24, 28, 28 and 31, were arrested and charged and are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court at a later date.

Earlier this year, illegal cigarettes and hand-rolling tobacco worth about £3.5m were recovered in the town.

Three men, aged 25, 28 and 31, were arrested in connection and that investigation, which police have handed over to HMRC.

Police urged anyone with information about those involved in the supply of illegal cigarettes and tobacco to contact them and Crimestoppers.
