A Lincolnshire town is offering free parking in the run up to Christmas.

Boston Borough Council is suspending fees in its off-street car parks from Friday 29 November to Sunday 1 December.

After that it will offer free parking on every Saturday up to Christmas.

Councillor Sandeep Ghosh said it was about fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere in the town.

"We want to make it as convenient as possible for people to come together and celebrate the joy of the season," he said.

"Free parking is our way of giving back to the community and enhancing the festive spirit in Boston."

The council said that despite fees being suspended other parking offences, such as not being in a bay, would still be enforced.

On-street parking charges will remain.
